The Erasmus+ GREENDALE project aims to integrate sustainability skills into courses in higher education. This project, which is based on the GreenComp framework, aims to equip students with the information, abilities, and mindset required to spearhead the green transition and tackle global sustainability issues. Rather than a solitary specialised topic, sustainability is now regarded as a basic requirement in every industry. In light of this new reality, students need to be prepared and adapt for a changing labour market, where green skills are becoming more desirable. To support this transition, higher education institutions play a significant and crucial role. By bridging the gap between academia and business, GREENDALE envisages graduates, that are prepared to apply sustainability notion and techniques in their work practices.
To achieve these objectives, GREENDALE is adopting a strategic approach which includes:
· Developing a Methodology for educators: the project partners are currently developing a thorough approach to help educators seamlessly integrate sustainability skills into their curricula.
· Creating a Handbook for educators: A step-by-step guide will be developed, providing practical tools and strategies for incorporating GreenComp competencies into teaching.
· Educator Training: To guarantee successful implementation in classrooms, educators from partner institutions will receive training after the Handbook is finalised.
· Piloting Revised Courses: The newly designed sustainability-focused courses will be tested in real classroom settings.
· Enhancing Work-based learning: Additionally, GREENDALE will also focus on sustainability-oriented internships giving students hands-on exposure in environmentally friendly workplace practices.
Partners from Slovakia, Greece, and Malta are working together on the GREENDALE project, each contributing a distinct viewpoint and level of experience, thereby guaranteeing that the approaches created can be modified to fit different educational contexts and systems. Cross-border collaboration and sharing of best practices in sustainability education through the aforementioned global strategy – all thanks to the Erasmus+ GREENDALE project.
