The lecture imparted by Mr. Valiotis was incredibly engaging and thought provoking.

At first, he gave us some broad image about how most of the energy in Earth comes from the Sun, and how the different forms of life recycle energy. Comparing it to how human societies produce and recycle energy, he made the point that we should follow the way that nature shows us to adress this topyc. Later, we made a couple of experiments.

First, we analyced three different milk samples, and, by doing mesurements, we could determine wich animals milk we were working with. Next, we worked with plant materials and analysed them> we saw its components in a microscope, then we separated the diferrent elements (chlorophile A and B, carotine and others) through a chemical process, and, finally, we used a spectrophotometron to se how the wave lenghts show the specific components that plants are made of and why they make plants look green.

Overall, the lecturer shared his passion with us, maling us all (students and teachers) acquire knowledge and awake our interest in science and its importance for a sustainable global energy system.
